Jesus Christ heals & grants believers power to emulate Him.

Yoked in His grace to, you do greater works.

To emulate Christ is to take His yoke upon you—drawing on His grace to be perfected in Him and empowered to do greater works than He did (John 14:12).

It is not mere imitation, but transformation: to equal or excel by covenant, through His enabling power (Ether 12:27).

Post 17: The Power of Prayer—Staying Connected to God

The Power of Prayer—Staying Connected to God

Staying connected to God through intentional prayer transforms your heart, deepens your relationship with Him, and opens the door to peace and miracles.

Feeling Disconnected in Prayer

Have you ever felt like your prayers were bouncing off the ceiling? Like you were speaking to an empty room or just checking a box on your spiritual to-do list? It’s easy to fall into this trap, especially when life gets busy. But prayer, as described in scripture, is far more than a routine—it’s a sacred connection between you and your Heavenly Father.

Prayer Is Connection, Not a Checklist

In a conversation with Reuben Huntington, I explored the transformational power of prayer. Reuben shared how he once realized he was offering what he called a “checkbox prayer.” He described the moment he stopped mid-routine, recognizing that his prayer lacked real intent and connection. Instead of continuing his day, he resolved to “stay in prayer until he connected.”

And then it happened.

He likened the experience to someone picking up the other end of the phone. Suddenly, his prayer wasn’t just words—it became a conversation. That moment shifted his perspective forever: prayer is about connecting with God, aligning with His will, and creating space for Him to guide and bless you.

This reminds me of Brother Lawrence and his timeless teachings in The Practice of the Presence of God. Serving as a cook and dishwasher in a monastery, Brother Lawrence discovered that even the smallest tasks could become acts of worship. He wrote:

“In order to form a habit of conversing with GOD continually, and referring all you do to Him; you must at first apply to Him with some diligence: but after a little care you will find His love inwardly excite you to it without any difficulty.”

Brother Lawrence’s life shows that prayer isn’t about reserved times or special places—it is about continually practicing God’s presence. Reuben’s insight to “stay connected” echoes this truth. By consistently making space in your heart and mind for God, the ordinary moments of life transform into sacred communion with Him.

God doesn’t command you in all things, but He does give invitations—not a few—in the process of coming to know Him. His messages to you come in your language and according to your understanding. Remember, you are His child, and He delights to commune with you. Practice His presence continually, and you will feel His love and power guiding your every step.

Walk the Path of Intentional Prayer

Are you ready to transform your prayers from routine to relationship? Here are three steps to deepen your connection with God:

1. Pause and Reflect Before You Pray
Take a moment to quiet your mind and recognize who you’re speaking to—your Father in Heaven.

2. Stay Until You Connect

Resist the urge to rush. Open your heart and remain in prayer until you feel the Spirit’s presence.

3. Carry the Connection with You
Don’t end your conversation with “Amen.” Instead, take that connection with you throughout your day, keeping God in your thoughts and heart.

As the Bible Dictionary explains, prayer is the act by which “the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other.” True prayer isn’t about changing God’s will but aligning your heart with His and opening the door for blessings He already wants to give you.

Peace, Guidance, and Miracles

When you approach prayer with intent and humility, miracles happen. You feel peace in your heart, clarity in your decisions, and strength in your challenges. Like Reuben experienced, God fills the space you create for Him, transforming your life in ways you could never imagine.
